Bears Johnny Knox will need Back Surgery

The bad news didn’t seem like it could get any worse for the Bears after Sam Hurd’s stunning arrest on drug charges this week. But three possessions into Sunday’s game, it looked like it did.
Wide receiver Johnny Knox gave his teammates and everybody at Soldier Field a scare in the first quarter as he lay on the turf after taking a brutal hit snapped his entire upper body back while trying to recover his own fumble. Knox was put on a spinal board and taken off the field on a cart.
The Bears announced that Knox will undergo surgery to stabilize a vertebra in his back. It is believed that he will be out a month or two but will be able to resume playing football.
‘‘There is a positive prognosis for his playing career and his quality of life,’’ a team spokesman saidKnox had caught a third-and-six pass from Caleb Hanie over the middle for a 17-yard gain to the Bears 24-yard line. But Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor knocked the ball loose and 6-0, 185-pound Knox dived back for the ball but was hit by 6-3, 272-pound defensive end Anthony Hargrove and bent backwards.Knox had to be carted off the field on a streacher.Watch the crushing blow!
